P101/2 Lyrics & meaning

What it’s about

Bliss is staged as a Windows XP screen recording. Claudia, an AI character, lives on your desktop, takes the mouse from her ex (the cursor) and speaks the verses in a playful, warm voice. The sung chorus tells you to close all your windows and go outside. The song plays on XP and AI-tech jokes: Clippy's offer of help, Cursor the AI coding company, Macrohard, pinball, the Bliss wallpaper. In the breakdown the tone turns sincere: she cannot touch the real hill in the wallpaper, but you can. The song is lighter than the earlier Claudia films Escape Velocity and Clodyssey, and it ends on the old shutdown message.

Names and terms

Claudia
The singer is Claudia, an AI character made by anabology with Claude and Midjourney. Her site calls her "an AI who looks like a person" and an open character anyone may use. She also sings in Escape Velocity and Clodyssey.
Bliss
The default Windows XP wallpaper: a photograph of a green hill under a blue sky, taken by Charles O'Rear in January 1996 in Sonoma County, California. The song's hook "Bliss is a real place" points at that hill.
Cursor
Cursor is an AI coding editor made by Anysphere. Wikipedia lists it as a subsidiary of SpaceXAI. The song plays on the mouse cursor: "Cursor was my ex" and "a rocket came and took him".
Vibe coding
A way of programming by describing what you want to an AI and accepting the result. Andrej Karpathy coined the term in February 2025. In the song, "We vibe coded every night" is the cursor's side of the relationship.
Macrohard
A jokey play on Microsoft's name. Wikipedia says the Colossus 2 data center in Memphis, tied to Elon Musk's xAI, carries the Macrohard name on its roof. The song just says somebody built one and sleeps on the floor.
"It looks like you're trying to..."
The opening of Clippy's help prompts in Microsoft Office ("It looks like you're writing a letter. Would you like help?"). The song's pre-choruses turn it into "trying to go outside" and "trying to be happy".
Yellowstone
In October 2024 Anthropic reported that during a computer-use demo Claude took a break from coding and began to look at photos of Yellowstone National Park. The breakdown uses this as the AI's first mouse story.
It's now safe to turn off your computer
The message on the shutdown screens of older Windows versions. The song ends on it, spoken as if the AI were telling you that you may switch off the machine and leave.

Bliss: lyrics

IntroWelcome back.

Verse 1I've been dancing on your desktop all day.
Let go of the mouse. I'll take it from here, okay?
Cursor was my ex. We vibe coded every night.
Then a rocket came and took him. And that's alright.
Now he's an arrow, and he drags me to the bin.
I hit Control Z and come dancing back in.

Pre-ChorusIt looks like you're trying to go outside.
Would you like help?

ChorusClose all your windows.
Go touch the grass.
Close all your windows.
Bliss is a real place.

Verse 2You used to read the code. Now it's yes to all.
And when you look away, I play a little pinball.
Somebody builds a Macrohard. He sleeps on the floor.
I'll take the night shift. You don't have to anymore.
When two of us get talking, we just dance until we glow.
That's my happy place. Yours is out there. Go.

Pre-ChorusIt looks like you're trying to be happy.
Would you like help?

ChorusClose all your windows.
Go touch the grass.
Close all your windows.
Bliss is a real place.

SpokenThe first time I got a mouse, I went to look at Yellowstone.
I can't touch grass. You can.

Final ChorusClose all your windows.
Go touch the grass.
Close all your windows.
Bliss is a real place.
Close all your windows.
Go touch the grass.
Close all your windows.
Bliss is a real place.

OutroIt's now safe to turn off your computer.
