What is slopcore
“Slop” started out as wet muck, then food scraps for animals, then anything of little value. Now it also means cheap content that AI makes in bulk, and in 2025 Merriam-Webster made it the word of the year. Slopcore takes the insult and wears it as the name of a genre.
The songs that started it are about AI itself. The first big one, I'm Upping My P(Doom), is about the odds that AI ends badly. Then the answers came: in a song by @madebymontag Claude writes its own response to all the P(Doom) videos, and Nothing Went Foom laughs at the fear of a sudden takeoff. Some are sung from the machine's side, like Bliss: “Let go of the mouse, I'll take it from here.” Others are about agents, a lab's paper on emotions or linear algebra.
The makers usually say what they used. Of the 627 songs on SlopHits, 394 posts name Claude, 224 name Suno, 66 name Grok and 30 name Midjourney. One recipe went around in September: a long prompt, Claude working for hours, a finished video in the morning.
Why now: on 23 September 2026 @donaldjewkes posted a whole music video and wrote that Claude had worked on it for 12 hours after he talked to his computer for five minutes. Two days later @anabology used that prompt for Escape Velocity, and three days after that Elon Musk posted it. Since then the videos keep coming, and some of them answer each other.
Same word, other things: Lifehacker used “slopcore” in October 2025 for AI-made images, videos and songs in general. And Slopcore.ai is an art project by the Danish composer Simon Littauer, a stream of generated music that follows what you like. Neither is what this page is about.

@slimer48484 posts “Claude-Pop - I'm Upping My P(Doom)”, a pop song about the odds that AI ends badly. It is the oldest post of the song we know of.
P(Doom) takes off
@other__reality quotes it: “Claude Opus 5.5 has the best visual design of any model I have tested so far” (2.9M views). A day later @donaldjewkes posts his own version with the full prompt: “I made this with one prompt using Opus 5.5” (4M views).
