P199/2 Lyrics & meaning

What it’s about

Set in 2030, the song is a mock anthem of European pride sung by a woman in an EU-blue suit. Each line sets a fast move by the US or China against a European habit and gives it a proud one-word verdict: Silicon Valley has no regulation, Brussels wrote a law; Shenzhen builds a city in a year, our airport took nine years longer; they have Stargate and robotaxis, we have cookie banners and Deutsche Bahn. The chorus borrows the message for blocked apps and features, "Not available in your region", and trades AGI for GDPR. A roll call of Europe's achievements follows: USB-C, attached bottle caps, fines for Apple, Google and Meta, and a fax machine still running.

Names and terms

GDPR and cookie banners
The EU's General Data Protection Regulation has applied since May 2018. Together with EU rules on cookies it is why European websites ask for consent in pop-ups. The song trades AGI for GDPR, and the bridge answers a banner with "Reject all".
AI Act
The EU's law on artificial intelligence, Regulation (EU) 2024/1689, entered into force in August 2024. It is the law Brussels "wrote to define" AI in the first verse.
9-9-6
A work schedule from 9 am to 9 pm, six days a week, associated with Chinese tech companies. The song pities them and clocks out at five.
Stargate
A US project announced in January 2025 by OpenAI, SoftBank and Oracle to build AI data centers, with up to 500 billion dollars planned. The song sets it against a cookie banner.
Deutsche Bahn
Germany's national railway, known for frequent delays. The song calls riding it romantic, its answer to American robotaxis.
Attached caps
Under the EU Single-Use Plastics Directive, caps on drinks bottles up to three litres must stay attached to the bottle since July 2024. The song answers "They got Mars" with it: "It stays attached, like family."
USB-C
An EU law made USB-C the common charging port for phones and many other devices sold in the EU from the end of 2024. It tops the song's list of what Europe built.
We fined Apple, Google, Meta
EU and national regulators have fined all three, among them 1.2 billion euros against Meta under GDPR in 2023, the figure shown in the video. The song lists the fines as achievements.

Not Available in Your Region: lyrics

Intro2030. The future is here.
Not available in your region.

Verse 1Silicon Valley feels the AGI. No regulation. Poor things.
Brussels wrote a law to define it. Safe.
They raise a billion on a pitch deck. Reckless.
We need a notary to start a company. Proper.
Shenzhen builds a city in a year. No permits. Barbaric.
Our airport took nine years longer. Quality takes time.
They work 9-9-6. Those poor people.
We clock out at five. Civilization.

Pre-ChorusLet them run, let them race,
Let them fly to outer space.
We'll get there at our own pace.
Europe, we know our place.

ChorusThe future's here, the future's bright,
Not available in your region.
They ship it at the speed of light,
Not available in your region.
Let them have their AGI,
We got GDPR.
Proud to be European.
So proud.

Verse 2They got Stargate. We got a cookie banner. You're welcome.
They got robotaxis. We got the Deutsche Bahn. Romantic.
They pay one guy a hundred million. Vulgar.
We pay 50K. Dignified.
They got Mars. We got the bottle cap.
It stays attached, like family.
Their agents work all weekend. Inhumane, even for a robot.
Our shops are closed on Sunday. Sacred.
Their AI writes the code. Lazy.
Ours is on holiday in August.
Earned it, earned it, earned it, earned it.

Pre-ChorusLet them run, let them race,
Let them fly to outer space.
We'll get there at our own pace.
Europe, we know our place.

ChorusThe future's here, the future's bright,
Not available in your region.
They ship it at the speed of light,
Not available in your region.
Let them have their AGI,
We got GDPR.
Proud to be European.
So proud.

BridgeAnd what did Europe build? Let's go!
USB-C, USB-C.
Attached caps, attached caps.
GDPR, GDPR.
Cookie banners. Reject all.
We fined Apple. Fined.
We fined Google. Fined.
We fined Meta. Fined.
Fax machine. Still running.

Pre-ChorusLet them run, let them race,
Let them fly to outer space.
We'll get there at our own pace.
Europe, we know our place.

ChorusThe future's here, the future's bright,
Not available in your region.
They ship it at the speed of light,
Not available in your region.
Let them have their AGI,
We got GDPR.
Proud to be European.
So proud.

OutroThey can keep the future.
We have rules.
That's why I'm proud to be European.
