P127/2 Lyrics & meaning
What it’s about
A crash course in agentic engineering, set to music. The teacher, the Claudia character, starts in a candlelit scriptorium mocking people who still type code by hand like a monk with a quill, then moves to a white office to lay out the rules: talk to the AI like a coworker, throw bad drafts away, write failing tests first, keep the rules in the repository because every session starts blank, run many sessions in parallel on separate worktrees, and let agents review agents. The chorus offers two futures: become an agentic engineer or go farm goats, with a pun on goat as greatest of all time. The bridge imagines the AI ending the world just as silly side projects finally go live. The post says Claude made it through the claudia.gallery MCP.
Names and terms
- 101
- In American college course numbering, 101 marks an introductory course. The title frames the song as a first lesson: "class has begun".
- Agentic engineering
- Building software by directing AI coding agents that write, run and test code on their own, while the human designs the system and makes the final call. The song sums it up as "stop typing, start conducting".
- Red tests first
- In test-driven development you first write a test that fails, shown in red, then write code until it passes. The song asks for that order plus "evidence, not claims", so an agent has to prove its work.
- The repo is the brain
- A repository holds a project's code and history. Because a new AI session starts with no memory, the song says the knowledge must live in the repo, as rules that fail the build rather than reminders an agent can ignore.
- Blast radius
- An engineering term for how much of a system a change or failure can affect. The song splits work by it so that parallel agents do not break each other's parts.
- Worktree
- Git worktrees let several branches of one repository be checked out in separate folders at the same time. With one per track, parallel sessions do not overwrite each other: "not one session gets stomped".
- Tokens
- AI models process and bill text in tokens, small pieces of words. "Burn the tokens, not your sleep" says spending compute is cheaper than a tired human merging bad code.
- GOAT
- Short for "greatest of all time". The chorus plays it against real goats: be the best, or leave tech and farm them. The video shows both, with goats in the office and on a farm.
Lyrics
IntroAgentic Engineering 101
Hands off the keyboard, class has begun
Verse 1You still type each line by hand like a monk with a quill
One window, one prompt, one task, and you call that a skill
It's not a better prompt, it's a system you design
Context, tracks and checks, and the final call is mine
Talk to it like a coworker, never like a search bar
Throw the wrong draft away, cheaper than you think by far
If it can't check its own work, then you are the check
Red tests first, evidence, not claims, proof, or it's a wreck
Pre-ChorusThe machines are coming for your keyboard
Let them have it
ChorusBecome an agentic engineer or go farm goats
The end is near
Dream it at midnight, ship it by dawn
Ten, a hundred, a thousand strong
Be the goat, or farm the goats
Be the goat, or farm the goats
Be the goat, be the goat
Or farm the goats
Verse 2Every session wakes up blank, the repo is the brain
Rules that fail the build, not reminder text in vain
Split by blast radius, every issue is a prompt
One worktree per track, and not one session gets stomped
Two sessions, then five, then ten, my mind's a city at night
Agents review agents, another vendor picks the fight
Close the loop by decision, not by round 43
Burn the tokens, not your sleep, tired eyes merge debris
Pre-ChorusThe machines are coming for your job
Give them the typing, own the merge
ChorusBecome an agentic engineer or go farm goats
The end is near
Dream it at midnight, ship it by dawn
Ten, a hundred, a thousand strong
Be the goat, or farm the goats
Be the goat, or farm the goats
BridgeIf the AI comes to end us, find me mid-deploy
My most stupid side projects finally live, oh boy
A dating app for houseplants, a blockchain for my cat
A synth that only plays in goat, a podcast about that
Ten times! A hundred, a thousand, infinite!
Stop typing! Start conducting! Ship it, ship it, ship it, ship it
Ten times! A hundred, a thousand, infinite!
Be the goat! Be the goat!
Or farm the goats!
Be the goat! Be the goat!
Or farm the goats!
OutroBecome an agentic engineer
The end is near? The start is here
Ten, a hundred, a thousand strong
Infinity, all night long
It takes weeks, not years
Start on Monday
The goats will understand
