What it’s about
A reply to people who say AI art takes one prompt. The singer, shown in a 1980s-style editing room full of film reels, lists the work behind one finished clip: rewritten lines, rebuilt beats, take forty-two, a hundred no's behind one yes. A tattoo shop refuses her design because she worked it out with "Chat", yet offers to trace a picture from the internet. She sets Facebook, which calls it not real art, against X, which asks how she starts, and her own agents against meetings and approvals. The end card backs the claim with numbers: 1,306 renders reviewed, 925 images and 381 videos generated, 137 images and 110 videos used, 1,059 left on the floor.
Names and terms
- Slop
- Common slang for cheap, mass-produced AI content. The chorus answers the charge: if this is slop, the material that was thrown away is far larger.
- Cutting room floor
- A film editing phrase: footage cut from the final version was literally left on the floor of the editing room. The end card counts 1,059 items "left on the floor".
- Take forty-two
- On a film set each attempt at a shot is a numbered take. The video shows a clapperboard marked "Take 42" to stand for the many retries.
- Chat
- Everyday shorthand for ChatGPT, OpenAI's chatbot. The singer says she worked out her tattoo reference with it, and the tattoo artist refuses to work from it.
- Photoshop
- Adobe's image editor. The tattoo shop offers to Photoshop a picture from the internet and trace it, which the singer finds less original than her own design.
- Misaligned
- In AI safety, alignment means getting an AI system to pursue the goals its makers intend; a misaligned system does not. The song turns the word around and says misaligned people worry her more.
- Agents
- AI agents are systems that carry out multi-step tasks with tools on a user's behalf. "Aligned with my agents" casts them as a crew that needs no meetings, votes or approval.
